I’ve always been able to draw (everyone is able to draw) but never in the way I’ve wanted to. I think prior to beginning this inquiry I had gone as far as sheer creativity would take me. I’ve realized that a common trait amongst all of the artists I look up to is a deep understanding of their craft. They have confidence to create because they have mastered the fundamentals. For the first week of my free inquiry I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty and cultivate my understanding of the absolute basics. I spent my time learning and studying, absorbing all of the knowledge I could. I used online resources to explore and analyze the seven elements of art: Line, shape, colour, space, form, texture, and value. These are the resources that I used to get a basic grasp on the fundamental elements of art.
